AFP to IPDS Conversion
AFP to IPDS Conversion: Overview
A high percentage of production print is generated in AFP and then converted to IPDS for printing on high-speed devices.
AFP to IPDS Conversion: Challenges
There are many needs associated with AFP to IPDS Conversion. They can include physical connectivity to devices, print stream conversions, data repurposing and much more.
AFP to IPDS Conversion: Barr Systems' Solution
Our Barr Enterprise Print Server includes comprehensive support for AFP to IPDS Conversion. If the AFP files reside on the host, we can retrieve them through our Host / Mainframe Printing functionality.
Once the files are on our print server, you can take full advantage of our Print Spooling features. If you need to print to one or more channel-attached IPDS printers, our Barr Print/390 for IPDS includes the necessary hardware.
For the conversion, we support both fully composed and mixed-mode AFP files. We thus support inline resources (self-contained), external resources (files), and external resource library. These resources can also be supplied by a resource server over an HTTP connection over the network.
The conversion is very efficient, thus allowing us to drive even the highest speed printers at rated speeds. We can also perform a full complement of Data Repurposing actions during the conversion.
