Streamline Your Printing Process By Taking Control of Document Properties
Documents generally fall into three categories:
- Documents with no print properties preset
- Documents with preset print properties that require change
- Documents with preset print properties that don’t require change
The last case is obviously the simplest, as the document can be passed through to the destination without adjustment. The other two cases are more complex, given the wide variety in the way print properties are applied or changed depending on the format of the document and the type of destination it is going to.
In Barr EOM, there are three main ways for administrators and operators to set print properties. One involves forcing all documents to print a certain way, for instance duplex and black and white. The second is more flexible and sets the print properties based on conditions, such as forcing duplex and grayscale only for documents from certain users printed out of a certain application. Finally, the third involves operators manually adjusting document properties in the spooler, which then get taken into account during output processing.
In addition, Barr EOM also includes advanced functionality that can help take documents generated for a specific type of printer and have them print correctly on a different printer. This functionality is particularly useful for setting up effective failover strategies.
