Load balancing allows your organization to automatically spread output across a selected group of printers. Such intuitive printer organization improves document output speeds overall and enables re-routing of documents to specified printers in order to keep all printer use equal and consistent. For example, Barr EOM’s load balancing option can redirect documents to the least busy printer in the group at any given time. These actions can be configured and implemented via business rules or setup through a basic round robin approach. Consistent with all the features in Barr EOM, when a print job is redirected Barr EOM notifies the user of the change in print destination for greater convenience and efficiency.
Based on document count, job priority or any other rule set forth by you, Barr EOM can balance your output and distribute print jobs across multiple types of printers, making it far more efficient the standard Windows Print Pooling. In addition to the load balancing capabilities of Barr EOM, many users also use Business Rules to automatically re-route large print jobs (multiple copies, large number of pages, etc) to high volume, production printers. Barr EOM also offers several types of Failover Printing to help you automatically or manually re-route print output when printers fail.
