It all starts with the automatic discovery process, which finds all of the printers on your network. Barr EOM logs the capabilities of output destinations such as color, duplex, PCL, etc. and begins to monitor it continuously. This monitoring extends beyond basic status, to items such as level of toner, or whether there is paper in the trays. Such monitoring prevents documents from being sent to unavailable printers, and proactively alerts help desk staff of problems before a document is even sent to the device. You can subsequently view all of your devices on one screen, with their current status, and the documents waiting in their queues. The tree view and the advanced grouping, filtering and searching capabilities mean that you can find any specific device in just seconds, even if you are responsible for thousands of them. Barr EOM uses SNMP and PJL to communicate with your printers. Various alerting options allow you to actively monitor what is happening in real-time.
