The Barr Network Print Manage (Barr NPM) requirements are described below for each component. Please note, these are basic recommendations. Specific requirements are dependent on the operating system, expected production volume, and other applications.

  
     

 

Barr NPM can be configured for the following scenarios:

Production Printing

Barr NPM Core Server

Software requirements:

For Barr NPM Services, you need the following software installed:

  • Windows XP Professional 32, Windows Vista 32, Windows 2003 Server 32, or Windows 2008 Server 32
  • Microsoft .Net Framework version 3.5 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (SQL Server could be run on a separate server)
  • RJE/NJE Requires Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32 or Microsoft Windows 2003 Server 32.

Hardware requirements:

The computer where you install Barr NPM Services must meet the minimum hardware requirements:

  • 3.0 GHz or equivalent multi-core processor
  • 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM without SQL Server Express (4 gigabytes with SQL Server Express).
  • 500 GB hard drive

 
Office Printing

Barr NPM Web Server (Support for Web Clients)

Software requirements:

  • Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, Windows 2003 Server, or Windows 2008 Server
  • Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 Service Pack 1
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (SQL Server could be run on a separate server)
  • Internet Information Server (IIS) version 5.1, 6.x, or 7.x

Hardware requirements:

  • 3.0 GHz or equivalent multi-core processor
  • 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM without SQL Server Express (4 gigabytes with SQL Server Express).
  • 500 GB hard drive
Enterprise document delivery

Barr NPM (Remote Workstation)

Barr NPM Remote Workstations require the following minimum requirements.

Software requirements:

  • Windows XP Professional 32, Windows Vista 32, Windows 2003 Server 32, or Windows 2008 Server 32
  • Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 Service Pack 1
  • RJE/NJE Requires Microsoft Windows XP Professional 32 or Microsoft Windows 2003 Server 32.
  • Connection to Barr NPM Core Server

Hardware requirements:

  • 3.0 GHz or equivalent multi-core processor
  • 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM without SQL Server Express (4 gigabytes with SQL Server Express).

Barr NPM Console

Software requirements:

Barr NPM Console requires the following software:

  • Windows XP Professional 32, Windows Vista 32, Windows 2003 Server 32, or Windows 2008 Server 32
  • Microsoft .Net Framework version 3.5 Service Pack 1
  • Connection to Barr NPM Core Server

Hardware requirements:

The computer where you install the Barr NPM Console must meet the minimum hardware requirements:

    • 1.6 GHz processor
    • 1 gigabytes (GB) of RAM (2 gigabytes with Microsoft Windows Vista)
Enterprise document delivery

Barr NPM Web Client

The Barr NPM Web client requires one of the following browsers.

    • Internet Explorer version 7.x and later.
    • Firefox version 3.x and later.
