Barr Systems Introduces BARR/CHANNEL Appliance

Gainesville, Fla.- Barr Systems, Inc. announces an easy way to upgrade from channel-attached printers to network-attached printers without changing the way you generate your print files. By simulating a channel-attached printer, BARR/Channel Appliance can seamlessly send your print jobs to a network-attached printer without the mainframe ever knowing the printer is off the channel.

To save space, BARR/Channel Appliance is comprised of a small form factor PC-based appliance. This compact appliance plugs into your mainframe with either a Bus & Tag or ESCON? cable. BARR/Channel Appliance then communicates with your IP-attached printers using TCP/IP. Configuration is completed via remote desktop connections. In addition, BARR/Channel Appliance can be factory configured for PLUG and PRINT installation.
