Barr Systems Awarded ISO 9001 Certification
Gainesville,Fla. -Barr Systems, Inc. received ISO 9001 certification, April 20, 1999, from the North American division of British Standards Institution (BSI), the world's leading registrar of quality management systems. As a third-party auditor, it is BSI’s job to evaluate a company’s documented procedures and operations to determine if the company's quality management system meets the international standard.
ISO 9000 certification can be achieved at one of three levels. The most stringent is the ISO 9001 level for manufacturing companies, which includes additional criteria for design of products. Barr Systems achieved this certification but wanted to go even further in establishing its high standard of quality performance in software development. Barr also received the United Kingdom TickIT certification that specifically governs software development.
"Having fulfilled the requirements for ISO 9001 registration, the highest level of quality assurance attainable, we have once again proven to ourselves and our customers that we maintain precision and consistency in the design, support, and production of our printing and connectivity products," said Tony Barr, president and CEO of Barr Systems.
Quality Assurance is not new to Barr Systems. Years before seeking ISO 9001 certification, quality standards and documented procedures were implemented throughout every department. Barr made a commitment to expressing quality by exceeding customers' expectations in every experience with products and personnel.
Barr Systems Quality Manager Joe DeWeese congratulated the hard work and cooperative spirit exhibited by the company at all levels. "Barr employees quickly recognized that achieving ISO 9001 certification would result in many benefits not only for our customers, but for the company as well," said DeWeese. "Interdepartmental teamwork and cooperation in the past year, proved successful in attaining this hard-earned certification."
