Barr Systems Adds to its Output Management Lineup

Gainesville,Fla. - Barr Systems, Inc. recently introduced several new offerings to its extensive output management product lineup:

New Xerox Printer Support

Barr has developed a new product specific to Xerox's latest network printing systems. BARR/PRINT to EPS is a new module of the Barr Enterprise Print Server (BEPS) that receives Xerox LCDS and Metacode print files from the mainframe and sends them to the Xerox DocuPrint Enterprise Printing Systems (EPS) via TCP/IP. This simple connection allows easy upgrade from Xerox LPS to the new DocuPrint 180 Enterprise Printing System or the new DocuSP controller.

BARR/PRINT to EPS converts ASA character control to machine control as necessary, and sends the FCB to the printer. It also adds a length value to each data line to ensure accurate transmission and interpretation of LCDS data.

New TCP/IP Host Connectivity Options

Barr offers two ways to connect to mainframes and other hosts via TCP/IP. BARR/FTP, a new module of the Barr Enterprise Print Server, provides fully automated FTP transfers between mainframe and network. And, Barr's existing TCP/IP connection, the BARR/PRINT TCP/IP module, has been enhanced to support special features in IBM's IP Printway and Levi, Ray & Shoup's VPS/LCDS. This enhanced support allows mainframe print data to be cleanly transferred from the mainframe to the network without any conversions taking place.
