Barr Systems Unveils Barr Enterprise Print Server™, a Comprehensive Printing Solution for Windows NT®
Gainesville,Fla.-Barr Systems, Inc. unveiled its new Barr Enterprise Print Server™ at the Xplor International 19th Global Conference on November 10. Designed for the Windows NT operating system, Barr Enterprise Print Server is a modular input/output management solution designed to handle even the most demanding printing needs in today's networked environment.
Building upon the tradition of BARR's industry leading DOS-based solutions, the Barr Enterprise Print Server offers control, flexibility, and functionality that makes it the most powerful print management tool available today. At the core of the solution is BARR/SPOOL, a PC spooler designed to combine the power and robustness of a mainframe’s JES spooler with the ease of use and graphical interface of the Windows environment. Its impressive standalone functionality is supplemented by a number of input and output modules: BARR/NJE, BARR/PRINT TCP/IP, BARR/PRINT CHANNEL, BARR/PRINT390, and BARR/PRINT AFP.
"We did not choose a slogan to reflect our products - we designed our products to reflect our slogan. 'The Power to Print. Anything. Anywhere.' is truly what we have been successfully striving for," said Tony Barr, President and CEO of Barr Systems, Inc.
The power of the Barr Enterprise Print Server lies in its ability to fulfill almost every user's needs. These include: Exchanging data between mainframe and network in a peer-to-peer environment using NJE; Sharing high-speed channel printers between mainframe and network users; Receiving and routing jobs over TCP/IP; Driving up to eight channel-attached printers simultaneously from one PC; Routing, viewing and printing AFP jobs on low-cost network printers; Accepting jobs from virtually any platform and sending them to virtually any printer; Channel-extending printers inexpensively over SNA or TCP/IP - And much more.
Purchasing a BARR product has never been easier thanks to the availability of optional Compaq-based complete turnkey solutions. Customers specify everything from rack-mount or tower, to CPU, hard drive, memory, removable storage, power supply, and network connectivity. Then the software is preinstalled and configured, which leaves only one step: plugging it in.
