Does your organization spend time manually splitting print files into smaller parts for delivery? Are you working to reprogram your applications to produce multiple types of output for different purposes? If so, stop.

Barr EOM allows you to split large documents into smaller ones based upon criteria such as the number of pages in a document as well as the information inside the documents. For example, you can configure Barr EOM to look for items such as account numbers, department codes, and customer identification numbers within your document. Each time Barr EOM finds the text string, it can create a new document, give it a name based on the information and send it wherever you want it to go.

Key Features The Details

Before you can start bursting documents, you have to capture them. To make it easy, Barr EOM has a wide variety options to connect to and capture files from applications running on Windows, Apple, UNIX, iSeries, zSeries and more. Make sure to visit our Sources page for a complete list of the ways Barr EOM can capture files.

Extract Text

Once Barr EOM captures the files your next step is to configure the Business Rules to begin bursting your documents. At this point, you have two choices. First, you can select Page Mode to burst printer ready documents. Here, regions (rectangles) are used to set areas where Barr EOM collects information and sets burst conditions. Alternately, you can use Line Mode for text based documents that are not formatted for printing. In this case, Barr EOM searches all of the data contained in the document to create the burst conditions.

Burst Conditions

The next step is setting your burst conditions. You can use the extraction variables you setup in the previous step to burst jobs or you use pages counts or number of output documents. For example, if you submit a document with 99 pages, and you set the number of output documents to 3, you would get 3 output documents of 33 pages each.

Set Document Properties

Finally, you can configure the properties for the new documents. All you have to do is click on the check box for each property you want to edit. Once complete, these documents would be ready to go to any of Barr EOM’s destinations including email and the Document Library.
