Enterprise Extender (HPR/IP) Link
Enterprise Extender (HPR/IP) Link: Overview
Enterprise Extender (HPR/IP) is an industry-standard solution defined by the APPN Implementer's Workshop (AIW) and the IETF (RFC 2353). It has been implemented by IBM on their ZSeries mainframes. Enterprise Extender is a valuable technology that permits you to preserve your investment in SNA applications while taking advantage of a consolidated IP backbone. Enterprise Extender allows you to utilize an IP network for the transport of SNA traffic.
Our Enterprise Extender Link is a key component of several applications:
Our Enteprise Extender link enables both BARR/RJE-3770 and BARR/NJE to connect to your mainframe via IP. Depending on your current configuration and without making changes to your RJE definitions or Host Applications, you may be able to eliminate a wide variety of equipment, expenses, and headaches. The implementation is simply a change in the communications link. To connect your mainframe with BARR/RJE via IP, you do not need to change your existing RJE definitions. All you need to do is define an Enterprise Extender link. It is very similar to the way you would define any other link type such as SDLC or 802.2.
