Documents generated by drivers and applications come in a variety of Page Description Languages (PDLs), such as AFP, PCL, Postscript, PDF, LCDS, XPS, etc. In many cases, the destination for a document is not compatible with its original PDL. Use Barr EOM to Modify and Transform Print Files

There are many situations where print stream transformations can simplify output management. For example, you may want to convert AFP files into PDF for web presentment or to feed document management systems. Perhaps you want to to capture IPDS print streams and transform them into PCL to enable new printers. Barr EOM supports these and dozens of additional workflows including the following.

Barr EOM supports three different transformation packages. Each transformation package provides an a la carte menu of PDLs for input and output.  Just below is a chart that summarizes the available transformation options.

In addition to Barr EOM’s transformation capabilities there are many specific characteristics that can be configured for the resulting documents. You can use Barr EOM's Business Rules to setup actions for-

  • Adding text, OMR marks, barcodes, overlays, and images.
  • Changing the page size and repositioning page content.
  • Replacing text or graphics.
  • Bursting documents according to predefined criteria such as Account Number or Department ID.
  • Merging and grouping documents to improve printing efficiency.
  • Splitting documents based on page size and destination.
  • Automatic classification and indexing.
  • Changing page layout commands such as the automatic rotating of misaligned pages
  • Filtering-out of documents or individual pages according to predefined criteria (e.g. payment slips).
