Upgrade from Xerox LPS to EPS
Upgrade from Xerox LPS to EPS: Overview
If you have an older Xerox LPS printer, you might be interested in upgrading to the newer EPS technology.
Upgrade from Xerox LPS to EPS: Challenges
It would be nice to perform this upgrade with the fewest possible changes. It would be particularly good to avoid having to change the original applications generating the print.
Upgrade from Xerox LPS to EPS: Barr Systems Solution
Our BARR/PRINT to EPS module is the easiest way to switch from LPS to EPS. It transfers LCDS and Metacode files to Xerox® DocuPrint Enterprise Printing Systems (EPS) and DocuTech 2000 Series Production Publishers using TCP/IP. With BARR/PRINT to EPS, you can connect to virtually any source that produces Xerox print files and automatically route them to your network-attached EPS printer.
BARR/PRINT to EPS can be implemented in two ways as a module of the Barr Enterprise Print Server (BEPS):
First, organizations using older Xerox LPS channel-attached printers can upgrade to a new Xerox network-attached EPS printer without investing time and resources to change host applications or connectivity. With our EPS solution, BEPS receives jobs as if it were a channel-connected LPS printer (via the BARR/PRINT CHANNEL module) and then passes the Xerox LCDS or Metacode jobs to the EPS printer via TCP/IP.
Second, organizations currently using a BEPS to drive their LPS printer can upgrade to a Xerox EPS printer and maintain their host applications without changes to the data stream. The mainframe application continues to send data to the BEPS PC as it has always done. BEPS then sends the file to the new EPS printer via TCP/IP.
